Video Blog- TikTok Ads Overview

TikTok has been growing over the last few years and is now one of the most popular apps around, with more than 1 billion monthly active users. Many advertisers are considering TikTok ads as a new paid media channel. 

Today, I would like to walk you through the pros and cons of TikTok advertising and share some insights we have after a few months of managing TikTok ads for our clients. 

TikTok ads- The Pros

  1. TikTok is still growing, with new downloads every month and new users across all ages, demographics and interests.
    Yes, we still see a young audience, but we also see positive trends with other demographics like new parents and the 35-55 age group.

  2. Regarding media cost- TikTok ads have a much lower CPM than their most significant competitor- Meta ads. When we compare the cost per engagement within the same target audience, TikTok provides a better return on your ad spend.

  3. Last but not least, when made right, the TikTok video ad can feel like a regular TikTok video and is an amazing opportunity for brands looking to increase their brand awareness.  We also recommend that our clients create educational videos- Quick how-to videos, how to save, how to use the product, and how to use our app. 

TikTok ads- The Cons

  1. The main concern of advertisers with Tiktok ads is brand safety. I will be very honest with you, some of the content on TikTok is questionable. This is true of all platforms to some extent, but TikTok is newer; it is still figuring out its moderation process for advertiser-safe spaces.
    However, TikTok users know that one video is unrelated to the next. The way TikTok works means that you might see videos from all different creators and subjects. Also, TikTok continuously improves its community and content policy; we are seeing progress there.

  2. There is one last issue you should know about - Once your TikTok account is linked to an ad account, your account will not be able to use trendy music when creating new videos. Adding trendy music is the most important element to help get a higher organic reach with TikTok. You won’t be able to do it once you’ve activated an ad account.
